If You Give Jack Some Cereal...

 Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Both kids are huge fans of the popular line of books entitled If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, If You Give a Moose a Muffin, etc. etc. This morning at breakfast the kids and I decided to create some stories of our own which are written very similarly to how to books are.

If you give Jack some cereal, he's going to want some milk to go with it. After he eats the bowl of cereal, he'll ask for a banana. So, you'll peel him one. Eating the banana will remind him of grandma's banana bread. You'll call her and ask her to make some. He'll want to call her on his play phone. When he's looking for his phone in the toy box, he'll find a farm animal puzzle. So, he'll work on putting the puzzle together. When he sees the cow, he'll remember that's where milk comes from. So, he'll ask you for some milk. And chances are, when you give him the milk, he's going to want some cereal to go with it.

If you give Meghan some oatmeal, she's going to want some sprinkles to go with it. When she sees the sprinkles, it will remind her of the cookies we made for Easter. So, she'll want to go on an Easter egg hunt. You'll have to dig through the boxes in the basement and find the Easter eggs. She'll help you fill the eggs. Then, you'll have to go hide them. When she finds the first egg in the flowers outside, she'll remember how flowers grow. So, she'll ask you to buy some seeds. You'll buy the seeds and help her plant them. The little seeds will remind her of sprinkles. So, she'll ask for some. And chances are, when you give her the sprinkles, she's going to want some oatmeal to go with them.
